Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get Netflix working with any of our tests, so this is an obvious win for ExpressVPN. However, PureVPN will unlock Netflix if you use the browser extension.

We found PureVPN’s usability easy and slick, with little to no issues when connecting. However, in comparison to ExpressVPN, it wasn’t as user-friendly and didn’t offer the same app interfaces we know and love.

Unfortunately, PureVPN didn’t hold up against ExpressVPN, which was much faster in testing. That said, PureVPN has a Smart DNS app named MediaStreamer that lets you unblock geo-restricted services without encrypting your traffic, increasing speeds at the cost of security.

PureVPN has not bad speed but is not as fast as ExpressVPN

They’re based in a good privacy jurisdiction, which is not part of the five eyes surveillance alliances, so you can sleep well knowing your data isn’t secretly being stored anywhere.

- Supports Perfect Forward Secrecy negotiated through Diffie-Hellman key exchange.

PureVPN uses:
- AES-256 encryption, using OpenVPN with TCP/UDP, L2TP, PPTP and IKEv2 protocols. However, they lack the IPSec and SSTP protocols provided by their competitors.

Conclusion
ExpressVPN is a superior competitor, with excellent performance, speed and reliability throughout its network. It works well with Netflix and other streaming platforms and has a large number of apps that are user friendly and well designed.
Although PureVPN is a cheaper alternative and offers more simultaneous connections, plus a rare Kodi app, it just doesn’t live up to ExpressVPN’s impressive credentials.
